AURORA AUSTRALIS VIEWING

The Aurora Australis, also known as the Southern Lights, is a natural light display in the sky that occurs in the Southern Hemisphere. It can appear as shimmering curtains or bands of green, red, and sometimes violet light. The lights are caused by solar storms that disrupt the atmosphere, causing atoms of oxygen and nitrogen to emit light, creating the vibrant colors.

To see the Aurora from Candlelight, you need a high KP rating, dark skies, little or no cloud or moon and no torches or dash light. Simply sit in the dark on a hill, look south and let your eyes adjust to see with the naked eye, or take a photo in night mode to really capture the colours.

Fun Tip: Get someone to stand really still and get a photo of them with Aurora :).

Gate will be open on Aurora nights. Please don't open and enter closed gates.
